Copy Function in Rootsmagic

Hello, i like already the copy function from 1 person to another person, but it will be perfect if you can copy a fact also in the same person. now i must sometimes 10 times ad the fact occupation, but then i ad this on time and then i can copy it 10 times…

will be a nice ad to this program…

If I understand right, you want to make one occupation fact and add it 10 times to the same person–it is a good suggestion BUT with a little work, it can be done now…

What you do is copy the fact to 10 people at one time and then MOVE the fact back to the 1st person ( or copy 2 to two people and move back then repeat process)

BUT then you would have to fill in the dates/ info or change the dates and info

as your dates and info are probably not the same if you want to add the same occupation 10 times–for example one of hubby’s ancestors worked for the railroad in 5 different states with different jobs in various years/ decades–so yes I should have 5 fact…

Could you make fewer facts and use date ranges??-- such as I have a gg-uncle who was an actor from 1875-1923.-- from 1904-1923, he worked mainly in New York ( off Broadway) – from 1875-1883, he was in St Paul Minnesota basically BUT from 1884-1903, he toured around the West and was in many locations–so think I would probably do date ranges on the 1st and last ones-- the middle years I MIGHT try to separate out a little more if possible-- otherwise do the date ranges and in the notes for the fact put places and date ranges and parts in plays…
So it just comes down to–is it easier to make 1 fact, copy / move and edit or just make 10 facts?

Just noticed something else-- you can make your fact and copy it 10 times to the same 2nd person BUT YOU COPY IT 1 AT A TIME–so pick the wife or a child—make your fact and copy it to the hubby/father 9 times and MOVE IT the last time–that cuts out abt half the work …

I like this idea but it seems TMI.
If someone was a teacher (an example) their entire career, I would not put in teacher 40 times with each year, rather if they changed schools, then I would indicate that with the year.
My grandparents lived in their home for 50+ years. The city directories list them for each year. I don’t add each one.

Hello, it’s an idee, but not good working, for instants, i have a familytree of nobel people, and some have much different titles, and awards, for these case’s would it be very handy if the copy function also inside the person who you are editting…
