Could ‘Adopted’ be added to the Name type drop down list for Alternate name?

Adopted could be added – by generally people sometimes use Birth Name vs Primary to seperate
There are ~7 options
In my view, name type and primary non primary are orthogonal designations
yes agreed although not sure everyone understand what is meant by that reference from a database design POV (categories are completely independent and could be used/ mixed/matched etc )
My reasoning is because I have come across people who were adopted (don’t know if officially, or unofficially) and went by that name for quite a while, and then later changed to using the birth name. Specific. A girl was born after their father died. Mother remarried, but the girl went to live with another family and was given a new name and listed in the census as adopted daughter. Got married using the adopted name. Adopted, plus married surname was listed in the next census. She divorced and remarried under her BIRTH name. And that is the name she used for the remainder of her life. I have found no official adoption records. Her family says, she was adopted, but decided to go back to her birth name to honor her birth father. In my DB, I have her under her birth name with the adopted name as an alternate name. That is why I would like adopted as a choice under the Alterate name name dropdown.
Obviously, there’s a fair number of other possibilities. Here’s some:

I think the most reasonable solution, allow the user to ‘add’ custom name types much in the way custom fact types are added. It is elegant and allows for a more customizable personal database. Too much structure in a documentation tool, even a database tool, can be much too restrictive and cause more and more changes by developers as market needs change.
