I don’t know if anyone has made this request yet or not. Under Name, there is Name type and the drop down shows this:
Could ‘Adopted’ be added to this list?
Thanks.

what some people do – is use their current name as “primary” and their Birthname based on original birth certificate. One of my aunts fits this scenario. Adopted by my bio grandfather so technically half aunt. (also half sibling of my father)
My cousin was adopted at birth. Her original birth certificate has the legal father’s surname - he wasn’t her birth father, but was married to her birth mother at the time. The same situation occurred with two other children of the birth mother (each had the same legal father). I understand that ‘primary’ is the name that they went by until they married. I’m mostly thinking of the alternate name situation and for clarity. I have the ‘birth’ surname listed as an alternate name.
understood – was there every a correct birth certificate ?
One should still explain what you describe via note etc. I understand not wanting to recognize the father on birth certificate – but another person doing research needs to understand also I will let others chime in. Many documents at time of recording were recording “wrong” at the the time they were made.
Yes, there was a corrected birth certificate with her adopted name. She also has the original birth certificate with her legal father’s surname and all her adoption papers. Her birth father was not her birth mother’s husband. I do have her linked to the birth father, and unlinked from her ‘legal’ father even though her birth mother was married to the legal father at the time.
Currently you would add the adopted parents in addition to birth but under the adopted parents enter Adopted for them.
Yes, thank you - I already have done that
