Even though RM is my main genealogy software for windows, I use Gramps for linux, the one feature I miss from Gramps is the ability to add a source to a media object. I like to a source to photos and documents that I’ve received from family members and other unofficial sources. I believe this would be a great feature even though I understand most people just put that in notes for the image.

I second this request.
I guess I can see why some people might want this. But this likely require a database change if I recall the structure off top of my head. This could mean a source could be double connected in a way. Not sure that is desirable. Trying to think of other software that does that for media.
You can add a source to a media item. Under Tags add a citation to it. Give it a unique citation name if you wish to have it stand out. Then add a media tag comment.
