Using Death Q Date and Burial Date

When I use the death quarter date and also have a burial date, the burial date shows a Problem Alert saying that the person was buried too many days after the death date (Q1 1863 for death and burial 29 March 1863 the alert states that the person was buried 60 days after death). I know that I can click on the ‘Not a Problem’ button but is this a bug, I can’t remember it happening in version 7?

In the position and scale of a timeline for 1 year, Quarter dates default to a Sort Date of the first Month of that Quarter (January in this case).

I just put in the year (unless I know better) and add the GRO reference including the quarter in the remarks. I have to say I’m buying a lot more births and death certificates now you can get digital images from the GRO for £3 for 19th and early 20th century events.

I know that when I had a subscription to FindMYPast that a lot of times there were actual GRO images for those I was searching and images for baptisms/ marriages and deaths also-- I just downloaded whatever I was interested in–Ancestry and FamilySearch MIGHT have had the info BUT NOT the IMAGE

FreeBmd has the images, too without a subscription, if you still need them.

This is personal choice/ preference in many ways

I tend to leave burial null/blank if I do not know actual date but sort “aft March 1863”

Thank you for all your replies this didn’t happen in Version 7 so it must be something new in Version 11, must say that I don’t like it very much.

With regard to BMD images, I’ve never seen any on any of the sites, unless someone has posted a copy on their tree.

What I do in this situation is enter the death as before 29 March 1863 (using your date)

In some situations the Index entry for BMD is the registration date so for Death Q1 1863, they could have died on the 30 December 1862.

You can extend the calculations for Problem Search:

Thank you Dave and Kevin, you’ve both been very helpful.
