I have a man who has an unknown spouse with 7 children and a 2nd wife (named) with 0 children. Surely there is a way to unite these spouses without doing all the unlinking and linking finger strokes.
An unknown spouse represents only a visual place holder, not an individual from within the database… so no merge would be possible to any other existing individual.
You can go to the family with the missing wife in Family View and click on the Add Mother box. Then you can selecting an existing person in your database and select the person who is the mother of the seven children.
After doing this, you may have that mother linked twice - once with seven children and once with zero children. If so, you would want to unlink the that mother from the family with zero children.
