Transfer & delete of a family line from one family file to another

It maybe BUT you have to be very careful in what you pick to transfer.

When you do a drag and drop you have many options–

and a lot more options under select

with a lot more options under some such as Ancestors has # of generations, then Direct Ancestors only, Ancestor and Descendants or Ancestors and all collateral lines.

So I suggest 2 things–

  1. make a TEST database and clearly mark it as TEST- either make a duplicate of the file you want to keep or drag and drop everybody into the test database then drag and drop the family line from the 2nd file.
  2. Do NOT delete the family you are moving at least for a while–just in case..
    3 BACK UP BEFORE AND AFTER DOING ANYTHING
