I found an issue—though it may be a limitation rather than a bug. The Scrapbook feature, with Description enabled, works only when descriptions are no longer than a few lines.
If even one photo has a long description, RootsMagic freezes and can be closed only through Task Manager on a PC. However, if Description is unchecked, the Scrapbook for the same person is created without any problem.
Maybe it is possible to modify the program that long Media Description show error message instead of freezing the whole program.
Yes, the Description field is limited in the utility of how many characters it can usefully hold and has been discussed a fair amount of times. It is not intended to equate in purpose nor capacity to what a Note can offer.
I remember testing that a GEDCOM export can preserve 1190 characters from a Fact Description field …for transfer to another program or service, but in just finishing a test of pasting 2000 characters into the Media Description field, then generating a Scrapbook …only 350 characters in the form of 54 words with spacing were displayed. (no freeze for me)
