Reminder on Customized facts

for those who upgraded to RM 12-- don’t forget to check your customized facts and associations-- especially the built in facts that you customized by checking desc and adding <[desc]> to the sentence as my facts had to be fixed

Now did you migrate the RM11 (or earlier) database into RM12? I tested the direct import and did not lose the description checkmark or it in the sentence template.

I made a copy of the file and saved it in my RM 12 folder-- then in RM 12, I clicked on open file to convert it-- if there is some other way please let me know..
Most of my customized facts were okay BUT a few were not which is why I posted this-- they were okay in original…

I can see the customized fact types being the same. I’ll have to check the built-in ones because they may not. Though with a direct import and not the GEDCOM I wouldn’t think they would be changed.

@rzamor1 – it MIGHT have just been a glitch-- when I convert some other databases, I will check to see if I have any problems with them-- if so , will let you know – otherwise it’s no big deal as I have the same problem when I create a new database with drag and drop or download from ancestry etc–so kind of use to it…

You are right, but it will be great if after exporting and importing back from GEDCOM the description field on build-in facts will check the same way as before exporting. This is on my wish list for years. By the way, why not check description field on all build-in facts by the default?

The reason GEDCOM doesn’t change the fact type settings is to prevent unintended changes when imported into an existing files.
