I have been using RootsMagic since version 5, so that makes me older than dirt! I am 79 years old, blind in my right eye and left is less than 20/20. I just bought and installed version 11. I am having an issue when printing pedigree charts. I can just barely see the connecting lines such as from an individual to their parents etc.. Is there some way I can make these lines darker and easier to view? This has become a huge problem for me.
May I ask this question—Is there anyone else out there that gets a very thin and faint line connecting families in pedigree charts? I printed out mine and my wife’s in RootsMagic and have this problem. Also, the names of the person sits on top of the line, not above it. When I go online and just print out a free pedigree chart page the lines are dark and very visible.
After You generate the chart (and before Print or Save), use the Zoom In function (magnifying glass icon with a plus sign within the circle) of the right hand Preview pane (in RootsMagic) to zoom in considerably.
Now, having seen that, saving the chart as a .PDF file will look and resize exactly like the Preview pane. Saving to a .DOCX file will create a facsimile representation, but the lines run slightly through the text AND their thickness appears to default to the thinnest line option. Such word processors typically do allow some method of selecting those lines and changing their thickness (Default Page Style), but it may be a bit tedious. Choosing the Print option and selecting Microsoft Print to PDF as the printer results in the same effect as Saving to a .PDF.
The last option is Print, choosing your physical printer, and that then becomes dependent on any printer driver options You might have at your disposal.
I am wondering if you are referring to the Pedigree Chart or the Ancestor Chart. Neither have an option to adjust the lines, and that has been reported. It’s the Ancestor Chart lines that are faint, the pedigree chart no so much. You can save the Ancestor Chart as a SVG file and darken them in an editor.
It’s the pedigree chart. Lines so thin and faint I can hardly see them.
