Is Treeshare broken?

I have been unable to do any work on my database for the past 18 months and recently returned to the sofrtware. The first thing I had to do was upgrade to the latest version 11.13.0 which involved upgrading the ancestry api which took some considerable time.

I have recently updated some records and using treeshare gone through the normal practice of uploading changes to ancestry.co.uk, however when I check on ancestry.co.uk those changes have not appeared.

I have run all the database tools.
I have used the reset treeshare option.

Despite this none of my changes are occuring, I have been using RootsMagic for several years starting with RM7 and have upgraded on every new version that has existed since, RM9 RM10 RM11 and never had this problem before.

is treeshare broken?

If TreeShare shows the information on the Ancestry side then it should be website. First thing I would check is that you have the correct Ancestry tree. With TreeShare open click on “Show on Ancestry”. You can also right click on a person in the main view and select Jump to, Jump to Ancestry.

Definately attached to the correct Tree, from Treeshare click the button “Show on Ancestry” bring up the correct record with no sign of my alterations. close rootsMagic down and also the browser, open it up again and check again, no sign of the changes.
I have also tried this:-
Installed a fresh copy of RootsMagic 11 on one of my other computers (That didnt have it installed before) linked it to my Ancestry.co.uk tree and went through the motions to upload my changes to ancestry - same result - the software displays the usual message uploading changes however when I open up Ancestry the changes are not there

Both computers pointing to the same database on my local network

After uploading the changes, if you close TreeShare then start it again does it show the differences again? (You might have to untick Only show changed people)

Tried all that but the changes do not appear on ancestry, Also following this issue I installed a new copy of RootsMagic 11 on another one of my computers (it did not have a previous installation) and connected it all up. The database is on a network drive and after setting it all up on the second computer the problem still exists. I upload the changes using tree share, then from tree share I click the button to go to the record on ancestry but the changes do not appear

But when you go back in to TreeShare does it still show differences between RM and Ancestry?

its as if I hadnt uploaded the differences, they still show as waiting to be done

I MIGHT have found a cure. Looking through my computers hard drive I found I have backups going as far back as 2021. Suspecting that it may be a “Conversion error” due to the new ancestry API, I have restored a copy of the database created before the new API.
I have done one test update at the moment which worked as it should, it seems at the moment it may be gliche when the database got converted to the new format.
I will try doing more records and if it again occurs I shall let you know.
Thank you Rene and Jelv for your suggestions.

Was it the same database used in 11.1.0 when first released? There was an issue fixed in 11.1.1 but you needed to restore a backup made before 11.1.0 when using it.

All I can say is “Probably” due to circumstances beyond my control I was unable to do any work on my database for the past 18 months, however I did keep the software up to date during this period, just “popping in and out” to check something without updating anything.
I have successfully updated a few records now and so it seems it may have been a slight corruption in the database probably due to the new ancestry API.
Thank you again for your assistance.

I have upgraded to RootsMagic 11.2.0.0 (5 May 2026) 64 bit version on an up to date Windows 11 version 25H2

There is a problem with Tree Share which I thought I had resolved but have since found the error still exists.

After various experiments including installing fresh copies of Roots Magic on another fully up to date Windows 11 25H2 computer, also on a Mac Mini with Tahoe 26.3.1 and confirmed that the error occurs on all three computers.

I have isolated the problem.

If a fact or a citation contains an image - such as a birth certificate, or any other document then tree share will not update that record. Remove any images from the fact or citation and tree share will work as it should and update ancestry.co.uk

The images are just normal jpg files not too large, I even resized some to make them smaller but this had no effect, if an image was present, the record would not update ancestry.
