Include time stamp in Backup file title

Windows 10 x64; RootsMagic v10.

I often want to save a copy of my work in progress without interrupting that. I wish there was a File Save or Save As function, as most apps have.

There is the Backup function, which would be ok except that it always defaults to the same filename, so if you’re moving fast you can accidentally overwrite the previous one. I have to edit the backup filename every time to avoid this.

==> So I’d like an option to automatically put date and time in the backup filename, in an all-numeric form.

An additional advantage of having this info in the filename is that I won’t have to rely on Windows “created” and “modified” dates which are clunky and require a different sort in my file manager.

It doesn’t include the Time but I just add a B or C for subsequent backups made the same day.
I create a Backup each time before I start work.

Yes, date is enabled and I’m sorta doing the same as you. But a timestamp would be so simple and conventional…

A timestamp has been asked for many times before. Maybe this time we will get one.

the time stamp is in the file details at least for windows ( I assume basically same for Mac)
agreed it would be nice to auto populate to the name
