I am having trouble with marriages of one lady. She was married only once, but RM has her married twice, and one of them was -1186. I cannot find this guy anywhere so I can get rid of him.
I would unlink 1168 from Marion for now vs delete 1168 might belong to someone else (Family)

I am not able to delete either way. -1186 does not show up at any of the screens where I could delete him as a person or unlink.
At the screen where I see him, I get an error message that says only facts can be deleted. But down at the fact screen, he is not there. Down there there is only one marriage, and it is to the right guy. The marriage to --186 is not at the Fact screen for me to delete.
I also tried to merge the two men, but -1186 is not on the list where I could click him to merge into the primary.
I think there is some corruption and I recall years ago I had to do something to fix this.

Unlink the children from 1186 and he should go away
It sounds like you are misunderstand something about the jargon and diff screens of RM
and
not sure I follow what list you referring to

My 1186 person would be different person but this is how you would do it type “1186” in index panel
Make sure “1186” is highlighted from People List
The view family form panel (could be left or right side depending on your set up).
click on family – it will tell all immediate family members including spouse, children, parents, siblings.
And another way would be to go to “1186” after person is “selected” (highlighted) from People List screen --publish a detailed Individual report.
Again you can unlink from different places – from people list screen you can right click as follows ( I would check what is linked before you accidentally unlink the the wrong thing)

I understand. But there is no name associated with it anywhere, and it is not in the list at the left side. Because there is no name associated with it, I am unable to unlink it. I get an error message saying I must highlight the person in order to unlink it. It is already highlighted when I click unlink, but nothing happens. It is not in the index either. There are no children listed. I am giving up and letting it go.
Display Marion-9905 and in the Info box at the top of the sidebar go to the Spouses tab. You will see the unknown spouse with 4 children. Open the children and click on the 3 dot menu next to their name. Select Unlink, and confirm you wish to remove them from that family. Once the children are unlinked it should remove the link to the unknown spouse.
The other option is to display Marion with the unknown spouse, and four children in the Family View. Then right click on her and select Unlink, unlink family members.
I went back there, and magically, -1186 is no longer there. I guess he finally realized he was not welcome in that family. LOL Many thanks to you all.
Possible a database index issue.
