Guide to using RootsMagic

I’m new to RootsMagic but can’t find any general guides that would tell me how to use this software. I can find lots of things that show how to use earlier versions of RM, but they are not helpful as RM8 is different. And I can find info on how RM8 is different than RM7, but that also doesn’t help me as I don’t want to just know what is new, I want to understand how to use the program as a new user. Is there such a thing? It would be very helpful.

I’m hoping someone is working on a full-dress updated edition of Getting the Most Out of RootsMagic 7. We’ll have to see, Pending that, there’s a growing collection of how-to videos on the RootsMagic Channel at YouTube.

  1. pay $4 for the PDF RM7 manual for program basics.
  2. Try the evolving RM8 wiki. There seems to be no plan for a printed manual and the wiki is a crude and incomplete substitute.
  3. Bruce is doing weekly zoom talks on each section of RM8.
