Have RM 11.5.0.0 on an iMac running Ventura OS. RM 11 has been trouble free so far, and on Sept 6, 2026 wrote a 16.1 Mb .ged file. Today, Sept 8 2026, on saving an updated .ged file the process terminated with an ‘excess source array’ warning with ged file size of 11.9 Mb. Have repeated this several times, using different file names, same result. Re-installed new copy of RM 11 dmg… same result. What’s the fix?
That’s a new error to me and cannot be found in any prior posts to this community. I think you will need to report it to RM Support and submit your database file to see if they reproduce the error.
Try running all the database tools under File, Tools.
Have you added or changed a lot of sources since your last GEDCOM?
Hi Tom,
As of Sep 6, my file contained some 34,000+ people.
As best I recall, I did not add more, but did edit and add 8-10 ‘Find-a-Grave’ records to one family.
Is it possible that the RM11 program has developed some inner problem?
I am thinking of deleting the existing program and re-installing it from a new .dmg file.
I do not recall having to enter the key when I upgraded to this latest RM11.5.0.0 version, will a new install require this… I forget how to do this.
Yours,
Jack Hoke

Hi Renee,
My file contained some 34,400 individuals as of Sep 6th.
I do not recall adding more, but did edit and add 8-10 ‘Find-a-Grave’ records to one family group.
I have attempted to write a .gedcom using a different name 4-5 times, and import these into a new file, but each time it terminates with an ‘incomplete gedfile’ warning. I have run some of the Tools, but will try that again as you suggest.
Is it possible the RM11.5.0.0 program has developed some internal error?
I am thinking of deleting the existing program and re-installing from a new .dmg file, but uncertain of how to enter the RM key.
Yours,
Jack Hoke.

I doubt it. More likely is you have a use case that has triggered a bug to rear its ugly head. That’s why you need to connect with Support and submit your database.
The “incomplete” error on importing the failed GEDCOM export is to be expected. This is an example why it’s a good idea to do a full export periodically. It can reveal problems in the data that the database integrity check cannot because it is looking at structure and table indexes.
I would say you need to contact support as Tom said – the only thing I could find was that it might relate to below – I would try a new fresh GEDCOM import if possible if I am understanding
NET framework, importing a malformed or text-truncated GEDCOM file can trigger this if an internal parser hits an unexpected line length, a missing tag terminator, or an unhandled character encoding block that breaks its buffer arrays.
Hi Tom,
I am using a 2017 iMac 27 running Ventura OS.
I have tried to contact RM support, but no response so far.
Running the file data tools does not seem to have corrected the problem.
I assume my last ‘good’ gedcom will be the 16.1mb file of Sep 6th., and will attempt to create a new file under different filename by importing that, to see if this is a RM 11 app internal malfunction.

Hi Kevin,
Yes, I think importing my last ‘good’ gedcom into a new file under different name & directory will be best in order to preserve what data I can, and give me new backup & tree files. If successful I’ll be able to begin to see any loss.
Also, I suspect that if RM11 will then create a new gedcom of similar size that the problem is not within the RM software. My iMac & its OS are getting old, maybe that’s a factor.

On their Help page, click on the Chat button floating at the bottom right. Hours are limited and they are in Utah so time your attempt accordingly.
With that many people in your database, you must have imported tree branches from other databases, off- and on-line. That may be contributing to the problem. It might be informative if you could transfer your database to someone with a Windows computer and see if they can do the export (after Rebuild Indexes). Of course, that’s something Support should do as well.
I create a new RM database from gedcom(s) and then I drag & drop that database (after editing) into my main database. This way I can add a Source to all records in the gedcom before adding to my main one.
Any chance you added any emoji’s anywhere in the database? On the Mac there is an issue with creating a GEDCOM or drag n drop if they are in the file.
