Frustration in trying to Customize "sentences" in various fact types in the program

In version 8 I was able to go to the sentence of the fact type, hit the customize button and delete the formal sentence and write what ever I wanted and the way I wanted to write it. In the version 11 if I do that I get a null error and when I close the window, it closes the program and I loose whatever I have accomplished for that particular session. What is the fix for this? and if anyone knows, why was this change made to the program. This is very frustrating and I am about ready to revert back to the previous version I was using. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello kc8mid, I’ve tested this with a couple of different fact types and it’s worked perfectly for me. I’m using RM11 in Windows, by the way. I’m no software expert but it sounds to me as if you’ve got some sort of bug there. I suggest you talk to Technical Support to get it sorted. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. Just for giggles would you try it with facts Historical… and fact Emigration. I am using the Mac version which may be the issue. There might be a difference in the programming. Let me know your results please.

Am also running rm11.0.3 on macos. Historical is not a standard fact; it’s something you created or imported. I am able to customize the Emigration fact sentence as expected. Assuming that the problem exists after running the 4 db tools, I agree with @steve.turner that it’s probably best to open a ticket on this issue.

In addition to the other comments – you might want to try database tools / close program and restart program (restarting computer usually is not necessary but would NOT hurt). You might have more than one custom fact (same or similar name)

For giggles, type your custom sentence in Notepad and the copy it to replace the standard RM sentence and see what happens.
