Hi. I’m new to RootsMagic and have already screwed things up. A flagged problem for one of my entries was “birth after mother’s death”. The issue was the entry was born to the father’s second wife. I added the second wife as the entry’s mother, but now I have two mothers listed in RootsMagic and I can’t figure out how to delete the incorrect entry. If I go to the person’s edit screen and try to delete the record from there, I get the message that only facts can be deleted from the entry.
I’m sure there’s an easy way to fix this that I haven’t discovered, yet, but any help on resolving my issue is greatly appreciated because I’m sure the issue will crop up again as I work through the problem list. Thanks
Use the Unlink functionality by opening the Father in Family View and selecting the first wife to be showing.
The child should be showing as a part of that family. Right click on the child and select Unlink from Parents.
This will remove the child from the first wife and leave them attached to the second wife and father.
You can also unlink from the Life Summary tab in the sidebar. Click on the 3 dots next to where you want to remove the child and select “unlink person”.
