Custom fact fields

It would be useful to be able to create new fact fields, so you could use a fact type that is so variable that just the Description field will not suffice.

I think you are asking for something that runs up against the desire for data portability between different systems which is the point of GEDCOM. I don’t know about GEDCOM 7 but 5.5 and earlier do not provide for that degree of granularity. The program The Master Genealogist had its workaround strategy that used the β€œ|” character in the Description field to separate up to 10 sub-values which were then variables available to Event sentences and could be used in Event Notes. However, it was not adopted widely, if at all, by other programs. Thus, when imported, use of such a feature in the TMG data made no sense in the other software.

I totally agree with Tom. If RM supported any new fact type fields, those fields would not be exportable to any other software.

That being said, I do sometimes get a little frustrated that the Note fields and the Description fields are just text. What I mean by that is that nothing in the Note field or the Description field can really be linked to another person. But providing such a linkage would run into the same problem of making the data not be portable.
