in Rootmagic is it possible to merge Sources and Citations,
but is it also possible the other way around ?
or move a citations from one source to another source ?
if not can this be a feature-request ?
First, a question, why exactly would you want to move citations from one source to another? This sounds like a really bad idea, even if you somehow managed to use the wrong source for a piece of information.
Second, even if there is a good reason to do this, you probably are not going to get very far just asking if it can be a feature request. I am guessing the devs are sitting on literally hundreds of ‘feature requests’ and they are going to be far more likely to work on the ones that benefits many users over the small edge case requests. If you view this as an important request, you need to write it up in such a way that shows this is possibly beneficial to the widest possible audience.
To understand your question properly, I I think I would need to know more details about the sources and citations you are working with and exactly how it is you might wish to manipulate them. On its face, it’s hard to picture how you might need to move a citation from one source to another.
On the other hand, it’s easy to see how you might need to move a citation and its source from one source template to another, or to convert a citation and its source between the free form template and one of RM’s bult-in templates or vice versa.
Another variation on this theme would be to convert a citation and its source from one of RM’s built-in templates to a template of your own design. For example, you might wish to copy one of RM’s templates and add a new field to your copy of the template. Then you might like to convert existing sources and citations from using RM’s template to using your newly made template.
RM’s ability to manipulate sources and citations in this manner extremely limited. So again, I would need more details to understand your question properly.
The Problem with my citations is that with at least 2500 have no description in the citation name, and for rootsmagic is this no problem, but i correct this citations, and for this i was hoping that RM ability to manipulate could in the future do more, i must now every source seperatly examen, if there are blank citations, and then look how much citations there are used, and every person chance.
it was a beginners mistake by me to select automerg all sources and citations.
If your citations don’t have names, you certainly do not need to move the citations to another source. You need to name them if this bothers you. Moving them to a new source is not going to help you much.

I have a utility that will move a citation from one source to another (only if both sources use the same source template).
I use it periodically when I add a citation to the wrong source and the use that citation on many data items. My utility preserved the work that was done.
In my case, I have many census sources that all use the same template and sometimes I choose the wrong one. Same for newspaper sources.
