I want to add the church name and address as a place detail to all couples who were married in a particular village. Is there any way to do this as a global/bulk add? I can get the list of couples who match this criteria, but cannot determine how to add the church information except individually. Also, there are often multiple marriages for the individuals in that same village.
There is not a direct way. There might be an indirect way. To that end, here are a couple of questions.
- Were all the couples who were married in this village married in the same church?
- Are most of the references to the village for Marriage facts, or are a significant number of the references to this village for other facts such as Birth or Death?
What I’m thinking that might work would be the following.
- Change the main place name for this village to include the name and address of the church.
- Find the facts other than Marriage where this place name was used and remove the church name and address. This would be a manual process. That’s why I was asking how many times the village is used as a place name for facts other than Marriage.
- Run the PlaceClean tool to split the main place name that includes the church name into a main name + place details with the place details being the church name and address.

Yes, all the couples were married in the same church. I have more birth and death events in that village than marriages. Those birth and death facts are not tied to the church as a place detail. I have created a group that consists of all couples who were married in that village. I am wondering is there is a way I can make a bulk addition of the church name to that group as a marriage place detail. Otherwise, it will be a manual task where I paste in the church name for each marriage event.
I can’t think of a way to do it from within RM that is specific to the Marriage fact.
