Are you running the UK edition, or purchased the key from the US site and downloaded from the UK site? That could cause issues with you receiving the correct news feed. The other possibility is security software is blocking access to the news feed.
my 1st bet something like Norton is blocking it.
or 2nd as Renee described

Bought from S&N (UK) and has worked well since launch. Get the same error with RM9 too. I’ll disable Norton when I log in tomorrow. Thanks for the advice.
It’s not Norton or Malwarebytes - disabled both and no change. Also added the .exe file to the (Norton) firewall and showed the file as trusted. Uninstalled RM9 in case there was a conflict too but still get the access error. No other firewalls in use. Also downloaded the latest version from S&N yesterday in case the file corrupt. Reluctant to uninstall RM10 and start again and would be grateful for any advice.
I’ve since uninstalled RM10 and re-installed it from the latest version - still the same error. Only firewall is Norton and the error continues with that off.
Same thing happening to me and at least one other UK user. I’ve raised a ticket with S&N so hopefully they will check their server today and fix whatever has gone wrong.
Thanks Alan. So frustrating… Interestingly Norton informed me that the exe file is used by less than 50 people worldwide - so maybe we aren’t a priority.
Generally I wouldn’t put too much trust in what Norton say but I do think in this instance the information is about right. It’s a pity we can’t simply connect to the US server.
S&N have fixed the server and home screen is functional again.
Thank you. Will try again after I pick up the grandchildren from school!
Yes, I too am getting this. I can’t remember what I was trying to do, but I am too busy to sort this yet. Maybe it is yet another RootsMagic glitch sent to try me?
My problem seemed to be fixed last night. it stays that way!
