I have a note in Roots Magic that has information typed over other information. I wish to correct it so it is readable, but when I go to that page I get the following message: “Access violation at address 0000000102689728, accessing address 0000000000000008.” I am unable to do anything on that page. What can be done?
If you reboot your computer, does the same error arise when you revisit that note? If it does, I’d recommend submitting your database file to Support for to them to see if it replicates on their computer(s). If it is reproducible, then it’s a good candidate for analysis and correction of the conditions that cause it.
Another possibility is some issue with what the contents of your paste is comprised of.
Try ctrl+shift+v key combination -or- right-click (within the note) and select Paste as plain text.
Thank you. This error has been on my computer for a few years through many reboots. Can you tell me how to submit my database file to Support?
Thank you for your suggestion. However, I am not able to do anything on that page. The error message comes up and the page locks.
Visit the Support page linked below and click on the Help button floating at the bottom right of your screen. That will open a form which you can fill in with the specifics of your problem and the option of adding your file. Try your backup file (without media) as it is a smaller size than the .rmtree file. If it is rejected as being too large, ask for instruction on sending it another way.
