Could have been worse - could have been Street Duke of Suffolk!
True.
It is inconsistent, some Cleaned OK, others way off.
Wondering if the RM team are using an AI of Low Intelligence in their software?
John FitzAlan 7th Earl of Arundel
Cleaned
John Fitzalan Th Of Arundel Earl
Should be
John Fitzalan, 7th Earl of Arundel
Either FitzAlan or Fitzalan works
Nope, they are probably using a third party’s info that they didn’t bother vetting.
I think it has nothing to do with 3rd party anything. The program likely has a series of rules that it follows. For example it thinks capital letters in the middle of a name should be lowercase, names shoud only contains a specific character set and numbers aren’t the chosen characters.
Does it make any difference if there is a full stop (period for our American friends) after the ‘st’
As far as I know, you don’t have to accept the proposed cleaned suggestion? If I use place clean it always brings up Macclesfield, Cheshire, England and suggests MaCclesfield, Cheshire, England (incorrect capitalization). I just ignore and mark the ones I want to change.
Why don’t they have a cleaned/ not cleaned list like they do for db Problems? With 50000 individuals and tons of McEgans and DeVantiers, etc. It will take me an hour to one clean, only to deal with the same names over and over. The same with Place Clean.
