Thumbnails much lower resolution (in 11.0.3)

The thumbnails on the Mac RootsMagic 11.0.3 are very blocky compared to prior version 11.0.2.

Below is an image of a newspaper article for a marriage. The thumbnail is low resolution but the wording “Marriages” can be seen. The thumbnail shown (I assume) is a cached image (11.0.2 or before).

If I add some text (e.g. the word “test” to the description) and click on the tick icon, the thumbnail is recreated to a much lower resolution than before, see image below;

I am wondering if anyone else has noticed this (on the Mac app)?

macOS Tahoe 26.1, (5K monitor)
Confirmed and is a global change when thumbnails are rebuilt, as below:

Similar for Windows 11, 25H2 (4K monitor) but less obvious than on a Mac.

I checked in Windows with RM9 and am seeing the same thing. Not sure what to make of that.

Does

Media>Tools>Build thumbnails

have any effect?

Not for rebuilding thumbnails. You have to trigger some type of save on the Edit Media page to change it.

How about changing Media type from Image to File (or vice versa), then Save, then Build thumbnails, rzamor1? Would that trigger a rebuild. That’s effectively a non-destructive operation. ( Apologies, I’d test but am not home at my computer. :wink: )

Yes, changing the Media type will trigger a save. Then you would need to change back to Image again to save and rebuild the thumbnail.
