Specifc Field in RM10 for Maiden Names

Just getting back into genealogy as well as RM. I searched this community and didn’t quite find was I was hoping to; so, apologies if I missed something.

What are the ways to enter Maiden Names into RM10, and which ones are the most compatible with GENCOM and other genealogy software?

(I did find this article helpful, 8 Rules for Properly Recording Names in Genealogy , but I’m sure it’s one of several suggestions, and not sure how the points therein would interface with RM (10) specifically.)

Thanks in advance.

Women should always be entered with the maiden name as the primary name. If the maiden name is unknown then enter the given name only. Married names are entered as alternate names.

Thank you! (So many deviations across the genealogy landscape.)

And the alternate name allows the specification of the type of name- Birth, married, AKA, immigrant etc.
I don’t know whether the type get into GEDCOM, but I find it useful when doing my research.
