Rootsmagic 11 can't find placeDB.dat

Installed RM11 just yesterday. After making small edits on a person, specifically adding a POB, an error message appeared: “Cannot find placeDB.dat. Please try reinstalling the place database” Anybody encountered this issue? What would be the fix? Thanks

You just download it and install it and it manages everything. Get it from here. Click on “other downloads” at the bottom of the page.
Or just try using this link>>>https://files.rootsmagic.com/RM9/RootsMagic9SetupX64.exe

Thanks for the quick response, but I’m confused. Why would installing RM9 fix the problem in an RM11 issue? I must be missing something.

I did follow the links in the website and found a file called PlaceDBsetup.exe at the bottom of the page for RM9. Was that what you were referring to?

Thanks

Steve

Yes, you need to run “PlaceDBsetup.exe” (It is the same executable for all versions)

When you install a new version of RM, you are prompted to remove older versions and Placedb is deleted so you need to reinstall it again.

Just follow the link and instructions, it worked for me.

I’ve downloaded “PlaceDBsetup.exe” all it does is load RootsMagic 9 even after I deleted RM9. I’m still getting the error message. Is there something I’m missing?

Go to the downloads page - https://www.rootsmagic.com/download/rootsmagic-11

Click on “Show other downloads”

Under “Optional downloads” click on “Place Database Installer” then run it.

Thank you that worked
