Thank you all for the advice and help. The answer was in there somewhere, or at least I hope it will continue to prove to be the answer.
I uninstalled RMG 11, but before doing so, I confirmed that it was 32-bit, and confirmed that my PC is 64-bit. After uninstalling, I downloaded the 64-bit version and installed it. I have not yet detected the delays I was experiencing earlier. I will give it a day of checking, and if I see no more of the problem, will declare cased closed.
