Renaming a tree

can you rename a tree in windows explorer. I inadvertently downloaded my husband’s tree to the file which I named for my tree. Can I rename it? If so, will it keep the connection between ancestry and roots magic. I have 2 family trees because my husband and I share a great grandfather. It is his 2nd great grandfather and my 3rd.

1 Yes, you can rename via Windows Explorer, but RM will not know the location or name of the renamed database.

2 Rename via File>Tools function of RM will allow RM to know the name and location of the renamed database.

3 Renaming a database retains the A* connections.

You mentioned Ancestry. Assuming you have media downloaded from Ancestry via TreeShare, you will also need to rename that media file to match the database name. For example, if you rename the database SmithFamily.rmtree to JonesFamily.rmtree, then you will also need to rename the folder SmithFamily_media to JonesFamily_media.
