Question about qualifiers (rules?) in Advanced Search

After considerable playing around with constructing searches in Advanced Search, and also not getting any help from the RM11 Help file, I can’t figure out how to do something which seems pretty simple.

Basically, I want to produce a list of everyone is a rather large database who was born in a certain place before a certain year. (This has to do with a heritage/pioneer ancestors project I’m involved in.)

Seems like I shod be able to construct a straightforward Boolean search, in some form: Birth = “Texas” AND Date = BEFORE 1836.

Or something like that, but I think you can see what I’m trying to accomplish. But Advanced Search doesn’t seem to allow you to specify anything having to do with dates or places, which seems very strange. I’m probably missing something obvious obvious here.

You can filter all in one rule.

Wow, this is great, thanks so much. It doesn’t really follow the terminology of boolean search construction that I learned back in the '90s (and have forgotten most of), but I think I can figure it out now. You know, you really ought to write a tutorial on using Advanced Search and post it somewhere. Better ye, do it as a video for the RM channel on YoTube.
