I just noticed that the “Fix broken media links” tool now alerts you to duplicate file names and provides a choice for which file to link. Not sure exactly when it appeared but it’s working in 11.1.1.0. Another nice enhancement.

That is quite helpful / useful – Is it a safe assumption works that way in both Mac and/or WIN?
I expect so. The screenshot above is from a mac.
