This RootsMagic community uses the “Discourse” software. One of the security features is that it restricts the number of posts and comments new members can make. A rather big problem in forums like this is automated bots and spammers who make accounts and then bomb every category and thread with malware, sales pitches, etc.
If you give it a little time, the software automatically elevates your account and gives you broader permissions once it knows you are a contributing member.
