Information Note for Database

When I open a database, I’d like to have a Description Note that I can put information in.

I could then enter such things as: When created, why created. any modifications made (ie: batch change of a fact), sent data to someone, etc.

While this may not be necessary for people with 1 master database, I would still like to know the “history” of my database.

Did I have to do a Restore & why, Import data from FS or a cousin?

While I do track on paper, having it within the database would be nice.

Great program going back to Family Origin days and want to make it better.

Could use this empty space on the Home>File Properties below Enhanced Properties -

Agree completely as a long time ago I had a new cousin send me her database ( as since then many others do the same) which I took over to and added to since-- ended up putting a note under her as to this situation BUT it is not readily available unless you know where to look…

Any data I enter, I use all caps for given & surname since most don’t. This helps show me that I got it from somewhere else. I put a Note and Source for the people indicating where it came from. Color code may be an option now

MadDog, I don’t know if you saw my feature request titled RootsMagic File Description and or Notes posted here about 3 weeks ago, but maybe it might answer your requirement. After a few workaround suggestions were posted in reply to my request, Renee (rzamor1) said she had reported it to development. The more people who ask for the same thing then, hopefully, RM will deliver it … and soon. Fingers crossed !!

I typed this msg in Notepad and then pasted into this community. That’s when it alerted me to similar posts. I did not see your earlier post, but as you say, the more people who send in ideas, hopefully it will come about.

Great minds think alike Steve.
