Finding notes previously entered in Family Tree Maker

For many years I used Family Tree Maker. Then I transferred my files to RootsMagic and love it. However, when I print out Narrative reports and find grammatical mistakes in notes, I often cannot locate those notes in my RM11 files. Can someone enlighten me?

Well it might depend on which notes – but in any case that is vastly easier since Rm11

LIfe Summary

Also when you edit a person they appear under notes – the ones with asterisk ‘*’ have them

another that might work is to use find everywhere – and the you can correct
”Plot SG-3 Grove 1272”|

As Kevin says, it depends on where those files were in FTM–if they were under facts, they should still be under facts I would think BUT I don’t have an old FTM file to prove that.

Another thing that happened to me in one file is that a lot of my NOTES ended up under RESEARCH NOTES in FTM --whenever that was the case in FTM, when I changed over to RM, RM put them as a FACT called RESEARCH NOTE…

Easy enough to figure out if that was the case as all you have to do is see if there is a fact in the FACT list called research notes…

Whether it is under NOTES or RESEARCH NOTES, you can use SEARCH on the left side and do an ADVANCED SEARCH
NOTES is under individual attributes and RESEARCH would be under Events-- select the one you need and go down to notes and select
NOTES IS NOT BLANK-- it will return every note/ research note you have and is editable from that screen-- you can save the search and/ or make a group…

Unfortunately if they are under research notes I think you would have to manual move every note…

I appreciate your kind response. That sounds helpful. How do you get that particular view? So, far I can’t seem to find it.

in at least two places – its always available on top right from any screen
or got to Search > Find Everywhere >
