Do *.RMST files work on both Windows and Mac?

I’m trying to share a source template (*.RMST) file with a person using a Mac while I am on Windows.

I’ve export my template and sent it to her but she says it won’t open, is it just not possible or is it user error

User error. In her Source Template List, she must use Import to select your file.
