Biological parent

See extensive definition of “deadbeat” in the Cambridge English Dictionary here. The OED actually lists the phrase “deadbeat dad”, stating it is US English.

The specific use of “deadbeat dad” to mean a father who does not meet court-ordered financial obligations such as child support started in the 80s in the US. We even have a "Deadbeat Parents Act.

So it’s a real term and people know what it means but it’s still an insulting term and doesn’t actually belong in a family tree, which may be used by many people in the future. There’s still plenty of room for self-expression - just write a memoir.

I am well aware of the term “deadbeat” and don’t need the Cambridge English Dictionary to tell me what it means. The fact that the OED states that the term “deadbeat dad” is US English is probably the reason that I had never come across it before - but I will know what it means if I ever come across it in the future!

I felt that @inawink might need the reassurance of some Oxbridge citations.

For the program’s internal Pedigree View… only Prefix, Nickname, and Suffix would show Deadbeat Dad. For the Pedigree Chart… looks like Suffix would show.
