Figuratively, the database contains records that keep track of single persons entered AND until a child is entered and linked to that person… the column and row of the table where parent-child relationships are tracked is “effectively” set to NULL (considered blank, nil, nada, nothing, empty, undefined). Same with a spouse (unmarried or married).
