Duplicate Search

When I search for Duplicates, I use two of the three methods.

  1. Find people where the following information matches.
  2. Find people with the same reference numbers.
  3. none found.
  4. when I sort the “People List” by FSID, I find 7 duplicates.
  5. It looks as if the FSID is ignored when searching for duplicates???

Sounds like you are not noticing they are already present when adding,
I made the that error at first. What to look out for is the Blue Icon – if it dark – the FSID is already present somewhere in the tree. For Example if Carl Smith married both Sarah Jones and Megan Duclos – when you review Sarah and Megan you would only add ONCE from TreeShare – the the additional Spouse/Child/Parent connect should be done Add Select Existing Person

This is an easy mistake to watch out for if you are not careful. Family Search TreeShare does indicate its duplicate before you add but its not very obvious till you know what to look for.

The way I would go about this is SQL. From Within RM – I would probably do a Custom report then export to Excel if the list was large.

Off the top of my head I do not recall good way to work duplicate FSID within RM

Not sure if this search will find them (never used it before)

Not unless the FSID eas copied to the Reference Number fact for each person.

It would need more than a matching FamilySearch ID to locate when merging duplicates. There isn’t an option to just find matching FSIDs.

Sorry forgot RM refers to “Ref ID” in different way. It would be nice to do without SQL in RM. Easy simply query though outside of RM.

Thanks all, I’ll keep doing it my way - Sort on FSID, then eye ball for duplicates, only 9,xxx people
