You could probably fix the issue in the original database if you adjust the computer resolution and font scaling first. Open a chat on our website when those are reduced so the agent can remotely work on resizing the columns for you. Best time to reach an agent is Mon-Fri 8:00-4:00 pm. I would recommend asking for Jason to help with the resizing of the column.
Mine does not change.
I may have to wait until I update and get a new PC. The LG has had problems since I bought it 2 years ago, and has probably been the most disappointing PC I’ve owned. It is possible that I’ve been blaming RMG for some issues that are the fault of LG; only thing that keeps me from concluding that is that many of these problems only became apparent when I upgraded RMG.
Another option is an external monitor. Make it the main display and you might be able to resolve these issues.
Guys, I’m about to give up. I cannot keep up with the various suggestions that have been made, as they are coming too fast. I’m in Eastern Europe (Ukraine, specifically), GMT+2, and not on the same hours as most of you.
I tried re-scaling my monitor, and then spent 30 minutes moving all my icons into their former positions. And the suggested fix did not work, as has been discussed further up this thread.
I cannot simply create a new database without losing all the Associations I created, all the DNA matches, and all the health conditions. They don’t travel with GEDCOM, and they do not (to my knowledge) import. I got my custom reports to import (thanks), but these are of equal importance.
I have only this evening discovered that this forum had DM capability, and that I received a couple that I have inadvertently ignored (I did not know they existed). Apologies. I will try to catch up on everything Sunday (tomorrow is a busy day).
I’m a reasonably advanced genealogist (46 years and counting), and worked with PC databases (and quite comfortable with SQL), but I do not have SQLite on my PC. The one time I tried to load it, it failed, and the instructions to which I was pointed seemed to start at step 4 or 5, rather than at the beginning. I have opened some RMG tables using MS-Access, but only to view tables; I’d be scared to try making changes without some good practice.
I am only mildly relieved to find that this was not a result of extremely gross incompetence on my part; as best as I can tell, I must have accidentally widened the date field when I inadvertently put my hand on the touchpad. Still, I feel a bit peeved that someone allowed this kind of thing to happen without a known corrective fix.
Open a support ticket with a copy of the database and we will check if the issue appears on our computer too.

I was able to replicate that result – but that would be a user error IMHO — did not know that box resized – you should be able to use mouse to expand it to normal - most of those windows remember what was used. It could be Argued that it should not collapse beyond min size
to fixed drag mouse at bottom of window

I was too.
And I dragged the Edit Person window almost completely off my screen to the left except for
the remaining bit with the right border and vertical pane divider bar that had been slid all the way right. I then was able to use my touchpad with a repetitive motions of dragging the cursor placed on the column header row repeatedly to the right (the un-intuitive result being that the columns designed for icons only… move leftward, instead of widening to the right). That brought all columns back into the left pane’s view, BUT immediately upon ANY click onto that left pane’s header row (to attempt readjustment) … the Date column zoomed rightward again burying those columns again.
This window size is not remembered so you would have to resize it each time.
I thought some windows were remembered but not sure which were not. Either way it probably should be considered a design flaw
