An avatar to indicate a female. It is probably an artifact from changing views. You can set the “Display” setting to show avatars in Pedigree and Family views.

interesting – have you seen this before and/or does it always occur with this same pedigree
I have avatars off in settings.
First I’ve seen it. I don’t recall seeing it previously, and it doesn’t go away when closing and re-opening RM
As said - female avatar. As far as I am aware, avatars show where the mother/father are not known when turned off. Designed to assist in putting female/male parent in the correct place I would imagine. With the screen a bit larger they all show on mine with avatars turned off.
as you can see on my screen (I have avatars turned off) it only appears on a single person.
yes agree – that was the (weird) interesting part – I have other weird artifacts but in most cases when I have seen them I have not been able to replicate them.

I would Turn it on. Close the database, open and turn it off. Maybe it needs to be reset. Maybe a mac quirk?
No it’s not a Mac quirk - if I turn the avatar option in on they display for everyone
It’s NOT a Mac quirk as I’ve gotten some pretty strange results–just playing with this by opening and closing the database this morning–I’m on Windows 11–avatars are turned off–sometimes I get avatars for all-- sometimes I get some avatars but not all..
Tried that and nope still there.
That’s just weird. Is it the latest patch maybe? I didn’t notice it previously.
It’s an artifact carried over from an earlier view with someone in that same position. It has been reported to development.
