Visual indication when an event type with multiple instances which one is flagged "Primary"

When I have conflicting dates for events, especially births/deaths, etc., it would be very helpful to have a visual indication as to which of the events is flagged as primary. This is done for other flags in the program. As it is now, I have to check each instance of the event to determine which is going to appear as the primary instance for grids/reports/etc.

Already in place, just select the Primary and set the Proof to Proven. There will be a check mark by the Fact.

Other dates you are unsure of can be set to Disproven, Disputed or Proposed in the Proof option.

are you seeking something like color highlighting such things ? (outside of the Proven / Not Proven flags MadDog mentioned) >?

Thank-you MadDog for your response. I understand your suggestion, but respectfully feel that your suggestion is NOT an answer, but a workaround. I do not want to give up my ability to mark an answer as “proven”. I specifically would like to know how to visually observe that based upon best knowledge so far, that the event is the Preferred or Primary version that I would like to have show up.

Whichever is easiest to do programatically–there are time when an event is a “best guess” which I have decided to mark as my “Primary” event for the type (e.g., birth, death, burial) even though I do not consider it to yet be proven. I would be quite happy with a unique “tick mark” or a color highlighting. Thank you for considering this request.

The suggestion seems (to me) the near duplication of the existing feature described by @MadDog i.e. Why not just use the ‘Proposed’ classification as the Proof Indicator for a current ‘best guess’ and leave any other recorded options ‘blank’ if they cannot be discounted (disproven), which then provides the clear visual indicator (icon) required?

I wouldn’t hold my breath to see your suggestion implemented.

Over the years there have been tons of ideas that don’t make it into the program for whatever reasons so you may be stuck with the “workaround” :slight_smile:
