Support for synchronizing RootsMagic to FamilySearch CETs

I would like to see RootsMagic be able to synch with FamilySearch CETs. With FamilySearch’s goal of archiving family history for the long term, I think this is really important. The unified tree on FamilySearch is useful, but I do my own research and I want to preserve it.

A Google search on CETs shows (from the FamilySearch site) “Third-Party Integration: CETs allow seamless integration with leading genealogy programs like RootsMagic, enabling automatic syncing between the local software and the online tree.”

So, sounds like the ability might already exist?

RootsMagic does not currently work with FamilySearch User Trees (CET). There is no time frame on when it will. When that feature is available it will be added to the current version of the software.

so my take it that in the subtext - yes RM quire likely will at SOME point in the future.

in ver11? (future release):man_shrugging:

Maybe 12 or 13? :man_shrugging: - none of “us” (none of us non-RM team know)

if I had to bet from my 5+ years with RM - I would bet that you will not see it before v12 is released

CET’s are likely still going to have design/programmatic “growing pains”. Haste potentially makes wasted effort.

agreed – I might be wrong – but it seems like this is likely much more complicated than most user might think. While I understand why many users want it – I think it might best for the community to focus on other development tasks.
