Slide-in workflow very slow on 11.0.3

On 11.0.3, the slide-in workflow on my Mac is VERY slow, making its use very tedious. This has never been an issue ever since RM8 - at least it has been more than quick enough not to be noticeable until now.

When selecting a sources icon for a fact on the Person Fact list panel, the Citation List slides in to replace the Fact list - very slowly, wiping across the panel, taking about 5 seconds - followed by a very quick display of the Edit Citation panel replacing the Fact Detail panel. Returning/closing the Citation List panel, the Person Fact list panel slides in to replace it, again very slowly, taking about 5 seconds, and then the Fact Detail panel slides in to replace the Edit Citation panel, again very slowly, taking about another 5 seconds. So, 5 seconds to look at the list of citations, and 10 seconds to return to the person Fact list. Not good.

Everything else I’ve tried in 11.0.3 seems as responsive as normal. I’m using an M3 iMac, so there is no lack of power, on the latest Tahoe (26.1).

Is anyone else experiencing this? Maybe it is Mac specific.

RM 11.0.3 32-bit. Windows 10 Professional 64-bit. 16GB memory, SSD disk, i3 processors.

I do not see the problem. So maybe the problem is Mac related. There is no way to tell from here.

I have an older M1 chip under Tahoe 26.1 and the timing for the ā€œCitation List slides in to replace the Fact listā€ for me is about a second. I tried to upload a screen recording but that file type is not allowed to be attached to this message.

It’s not just you though it’s looking to be mac specific (and apparently not universal on macs). I am seeing it on M1. It’s kind of comical; was reported a few days ago in Facebook with a good video of the problem- https://www.facebook.com/groups/RootsMagicUsers/posts/3025463640974495/

[edit: and it’s not just slide in workflow. Any of the edit panels that slide L-R or R-L are in slow-motion.]

Probably a long-shot, but if you right click on the RootsMagic 11 app (in the applications folder) and select ā€˜Get Info’, is the ā€˜Open using Rosetta’ setting off?

I noticed that with this on (not required), the performance of that aforementioned animation of panels is quite slow. Other aspects of the app seem ok.

Apple Silicon Support

ā€œRM11 is a native Apple Silicon build for snappier performance on M-series Macs—no Rosetta requiredā€.

Well, that was a good idea, but unfortunately, it was already off (which I assume it should have been ever since the install of RM11). Setting it on made the performance even more painful, but not by that much.

Definitely an interesting effect to watch, though.
