> Namely, you always get a popup asking whether you want a paste/copy or a paste/reuse.

I think this could be solved by having two separate shortcuts, similar to how other software uses Shift + Command/Ctrl + V to paste without formatting. In RootsMagic, for example, Command/Ctrl + V could be **Paste/Reuse** , while Shift + Command/Ctrl + V could be **Paste/Copy**. That would eliminate the popup entirely for users who prefer keyboard shortcuts.

I came across an old post discussing how RM8 was missing essential keyboard shortcuts that were available in RM7, so it seems this has been an issue for quite some time. I realize this probably isn’t going to happen, but I would love to see RM12 focus less on adding flashy new features and more on improving the core functionality and workflow.

One of the biggest advantages of desktop software over an online service like Ancestry or MyHeritage should be the ability to work much faster and more efficiently, especially through keyboard shortcuts and multi-selection. Right now, RootsMagic often makes simple tasks require far more clicking than they should.

For example, I had to create a script that moves my mouse pointer and repeatedly clicks just so I could remove all 4,000 of my unused places. Why isn’t there simply Command/Ctrl + A to **Select All** , followed by Delete?

The same applies to merging places. Instead of opening a separate window where you have to select which places to merge, it would be much more intuitive to Command/Ctrl-click the places you want directly in the Places list and then press Command/Ctrl + M to merge them.

And how are there still no standard **Undo/Redo** shortcuts?

Sorry for my rant, it’s just really frustrating.

Edit:
Haha, I just realized that you can delete all unused places from the **Enhanced Properties List**. To me, it makes no sense to bury that functionality there instead of having it directly in the **Places** tab, where you would naturally expect to find it.
