Icons in the person detail pane of the People screen do not reflect the correct count compared to the actual items in media. Icons shows 26 but Media tab only shows 14, if I count all the tags that the media has, ignoring the primary photo, the count is 26. I’m guessing one of the primary photo should count and one of the other media is actually shared to more than just this person.
The same is happening for sources.
I would hope that the numbers on the icon should match the items in the tab.
I noticed the same thing with different # of counts.
The Media actually counts the # of times it is used rather then the actual number there are.
I found this out by playing around with someone who’s #s were different. Thomas had 1 headstone pic that I added to his wife and his # increased by to 2.
The icon count appears to just count the number of used for the current person even if the media is used by other people.
Here you can see the flag is tagged 39 times, only shows once in the media tab for Elizabeth, but the icon count is 2. The count is 2 because I added the flag to 2 facts for Elizabeth.
I’m not sure we are talking abut the same thing. In my example of flags it is used many times but does not increase the Media count on the person detail pane by that amount. Where are you seeing the count increase when a media item is attached to another person?
Making sure you understand media can be counted in 2 ways:
Media files (the actual media item) which is in the media table.
Media links (from medialinks table) which can be linked to many things/ways but in the RM as it relates back to a person
if you link a head stone to burial and find-a-grave- it would be ONE media item but two media links –the person would have count of 2 media if they had ZERO other media .
(This is my understanding) – so if this is accurate & true – the count is true/accurate but might be confusing.
