# Ancestor report with descendant decreasing generations

I have been try to export a gedcom file for myself in RM7 going back 12 generations and including their descendants for 3 generations down. No matter what I do, I only get the direct line to export. What am I doing wrong?

Please tell me how to get ancestors & descendants to download to the gedcom.

The image I gave has it set to the number of generations of Ancestors and then the number of generation of descendants its to go down the tree. If you are not getting that then double check that you have the correct radio button selected. If you are getting direct line then that’s the button you selected.

I have my choices set just exactly as the picture Renee showed. However the gedcom does not include the children of each family in each generation and their spouses with descendants; just the direct line. I have to be missing a critical choice somewhere. I have even started and restarted the computer and RM to remove any glitches. I know I have accomplished my goal in previous versions of RM, though it may go back a period in time.

Count how many generations of descendants down you need to go. Three generations will get you the grandchildren of the ancestor, but not the grandchildren’s children.
